About this book

The Staying Habit argues that a close, lasting experience of God's presence is something you build by staying in it, and that most believers fail only because they were never taught how. Part One removes the obstacles. God loved you first, so prayer is fellowship with a Father, not a performance to earn approval. Short, honest prayers count as much as long ones. Delayed answers may be in transit, as Daniel's was. Tongues give believers an advantage in prayer. What you give your attention to eventually rules you. Spiritual lethargy is the ordinary pull of the flesh against the spirit, and it can be treated. Part Two supplies the training. Faith is already given and grows through understanding Scripture. Worship opens the door, tongues build endurance, fasting quiets the flesh, and meditation shapes the mind. Resistance is normal and weakens with repetition. The book ends with practical rules for the long sit and a four-week plan.
